District Primary Purpose:
To drive excellence in academic achievement and leadership development throughout the district, supporting the Superintendent in overseeing all aspects of academic services and school leadership. This role ensures the integration of innovative educational strategies and leadership practices to achieve outstanding educational outcomes.

 

Department Primary Purpose:
To provide executive leadership and oversight of the district’s academic and leadership functions, supervising the Chiefs of Academics and School Leadership. This position plays a critical role in strategic planning, policy development, and the implementation of district-wide initiatives to enhance teaching, learning, and school administration.

 

Education/Certification:

  • Doctorate in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field preferred.
  • Valid administrator certification or equivalent professional qualification.

 

Qualification Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in educational leadership at a senior administrative level, with a proven track record of improving student achievement and school performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and manage high-performing teams in a complex educational environment.
  • Expertise in curriculum development, instructional strategies, and leadership development.
  • Strong strategic planning and policy formulation skills, with the ability to align academic and leadership initiatives with the district’s goals.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building consensus and fostering collaborative relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Deep commitment to equity, inclusivity, and diversity in education.

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Oversee the district’s academic services and school leadership, ensuring cohesive strategies and programs that promote high-quality instruction and effective school administration.
  • Supervise and support the Deputy Chiefs of Academics and School Leadership, facilitating cross-departmental collaboration to achieve educational objectives.
  • Lead the development and implementation of district-wide educational policies and initiatives, monitoring their impact on student learning and school performance.
  • Serve as a key advisor to the Superintendent, contributing to strategic decision-making and the overall leadership of the district.
  • Represent the district in engagements with external organizations, educational institutions, and the community, advocating for the district’s academic and leadership priorities.
  • Direct the formulation and management of the district’s academic and leadership budgets, ensuring resources are strategically allocated to support district goals.
  • Gather and review data that helps support the development of professional development and training programs for educators and administrators, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Oversee the implementation of innovative educational technologies and learning models to enhance instructional delivery and student engagement.
  • Coordinate with the Superintendent and Board of Education to report on academic achievements, challenges, and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead efforts to engage families and the community in supporting educational initiatives and student success.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Direct supervision and evaluation of the Deputy Chiefs of Academics and School Leadership, as well as oversight of related departmental staff.

 

Working Conditions:

Physical Demands:
Typical demands of an executive office environment, including extensive computer use and district-wide travel for meetings and events.

 

Work Environment:
Primarily office-based with regular interaction with district staff, educators, students, families, and community members. Attendance at evening or weekend events may be required.
